Born in China of American Parents. Grew up in Chicago and attended public schools. Graduated from North Park College(University) with BA in Political Science. Volunteer under college-opt program for Engr OCS in 66. Did basic and Engr AIT Ft Leonard, MO. Commissioned 2LT Corps Engr at Ft Belvoir, VA July 67. Arrived in Vietnam August 67. Assigned as Executive Officer HHC 588th Engr Battalion at Tay Ninh Post. Also served as unofficial S-5 at battalion HQ. As S-5 officer join and conduct monthly civil affair outings in friendly neighboring villages. Outings personel included BN doctor, medics and chaplain provided medical assistence to local population. Travel to 7th Finace in Saigon twice monthly for civilian money payroll to pay locals employed by Bn.Travel via Air Force C130 mail plane from our post and return via Huey next day from 18th Engr Brigade HQ at Long Bin Post. BN was later reassign to 20th Engr Bde. Reassign in spring 68 to A Co.as 1st Platoon Ldr. Platoon's mission: building troop billets, road building, operating cement making operation, providing vehicles and personel for covoys to Saigon. PCS Aug 68 to HQ Co 1st EAITBDE Ft Leonard as S-3 training officer and as OIC Map Training Gp. Left active duty July 69. Reassign Sep 69 to HHC 416th Engr Comd (Army Reserve midwest US)Chicago,IL. On active reserve with 416th until discharged Sep 71 as captain. Work for Montgomery Ward in Chicago from Aug 69 to closure of Co in Feb 2001. Started at Wards Chicago HQ catalog division and progress thru various purchasing functions to Wards buying offices. Now retired and helping spouse Anita with real estate. Have 3 grown Children: son Jon(USMA 97 grad)captain in Iraq 2007 and daughters Missy and Christine.
